About the Random Picker

Type in a list of names or options — one per line — and let the picker choose one at random. Pick the presentation you like: a Snail Race where your options crawl across a track to the finish line, a spinning Wheel, a Slot-machine reel, a deck of Cards that lands on a winner, or a List that highlights its way to the pick. It’s handy for raffles and giveaways, deciding who goes first, choosing where to eat, or settling any “you pick” standoff.

Every style makes the same fair choice using your browser’s cryptographically-strong random generator, so each option has an equal chance. Turn on “Remove the winner” to draw several without repeats, like a prize draw. Everything runs locally — your list is never uploaded and there’s no account.

How to use it

  1. 1Enter options. Type your names or choices, one per line.
  2. 2Choose a style. Pick Snail Race, Wheel, Slot, Cards, or List.
  3. 3Pick. Press Pick and watch it land on a random winner.

Frequently asked questions

Do the different styles change the odds?+

No style favours any option. Slot, Cards, and List make an exact 1‑in‑N draw with crypto.getRandomValues the instant you press Pick, then reveal it. The Snail Race gives each entry an equal‑odds random speed and the genuinely fastest one wins (so the winner can change every time). The Wheel is decided by a randomised free spin, which lands evenly across the slices. Every style is fair — the crypto‑drawn ones are exactly uniform by construction.

Can I draw multiple winners without repeats?+

Turn on “Remove the winner after each pick.” Each pick removes the chosen option, so the next pick comes from the remainder — perfect for raffles or ordering a group.

Do duplicate entries increase the odds?+

Yes. Each line is its own entry, so listing a name twice doubles its chance — a simple way to weight the pick. If you would rather keep everyone equal, a “Remove duplicates” button appears whenever there are any.

Is my list uploaded anywhere?+

No. The picker runs entirely in your browser; your options never leave your device and nothing is stored on a server.

How many options can I add?+

As many as you like — the pick stays perfectly fair no matter how many. The Wheel shows names for up to about 50 options (they shrink as it fills, and past ~50 it switches to colour-only slices); Slot, Cards, List, and the Snail Race handle long lists too, though the race grows taller with each lane.
