About the Online Notepad

A simple, private notepad for quick notes, drafts, lists, and snippets. Everything you type saves automatically to your own browser — so it is still here when you come back, without ever creating an account or sending your text to a server.

Keep as many notes as you like, switch between them in the sidebar, and export any note as a .txt file. Because it runs entirely on your device, it works offline once loaded and nobody but you can read your notes.

How to use it

  1. 1Create a note. Click “+ New” to start a fresh note.
  2. 2Just type. Everything autosaves to your browser as you write.
  3. 3Keep or export. Switch notes in the sidebar, or Download .txt for a permanent copy.

Frequently asked questions

Where are my notes saved?+

In your browser’s local storage on this device. They are not uploaded anywhere and no account is needed. The trade-off is that they live in this browser only — clearing site data or using a different device/browser starts fresh.

Will my notes still be here later?+

Yes, as long as you use the same browser on the same device and do not clear its site data. For a permanent copy, use Download .txt to save a note as a file.

Is anything sent to a server?+

No. Typing, saving, and exporting all happen locally in your browser. Your notes never leave your device.

Does it work offline?+

Yes. Once the page has loaded, the notepad works without a connection because there is no server involved.

Can I keep more than one note?+

Yes. Click “+ New” for each note and switch between them in the sidebar; the list shows a title and preview drawn from each note’s first lines. A live word and character count sits under the editor.
